What Will Losing Weight Mean to YOU?

You’ve probably thought of lots of reasons that you would like to lose some weight.

Many people like the thought of looking slimmer… perhaps looking better in a swimming costume, or being able to buy some clothes that they perhaps can’t fit into at the moment.

Another big reason for losing weight might be to feel healthier, and again, this is a very good reason to lose weight.

However, people who have successfully lost weight will tell you that losing weight can have a much bigger effect on so many aspects of their lives.

The Successful Weight Loss Hypnosis Download Can Help YOU to Do FAR More Than Simply Lose Weight...

Those people who have lost weight, will tell you that life improves in so many more ways than they ever expected…   and it really can do the same for YOU.

Successful Weight Loss Hypnosis Helps Where it Counts!... Just imagine...

  • Feeling more confident in yourself
  • Feeling more outgoing
  • Being proud of yourself, and what you are achieving
  • Feeling more energy
  • Being able to do more things with your life
  • Feeling the ‘buzz’ when your friends and family notice the changes in you
  • Seeing yourself becoming fitter and healthier
  • Feeling more attractive
  • Enjoying being able to fit into new clothes
  • Feeling more in control of your life
  • Discovering and enjoying new foods
  • Being able to look back at the ‘heavy’ you and feel a huge sense of achievement
  • Opening up whole new avenues in your new life... new hobbies... new friends... new activities
  • Feeling like a weight loss expert...  and enjoy telling others how you did it
  • Noticing how much life just seems to be getting better and better

…and that’s only the start!

People who have lost weight say that they just feel more accepted by people, that their social life seems to improve…  they have more friends, and feel more confident and assertive, more outgoing, sexier, and…   well…  just happier!

It somehow just feels that they’ve been released from something that’s held them back in the past… they feel more in control, and able to achieve more things, in their social life, work life… in fact, in all aspects of their life.

There’s no doubt, that feeling more in control, free and happy in yourself, is going to improve the quality of life significantly.

With more energy, and with a spring in your step, everyday situations just seem easier and more enjoyable.

You’ll feel proud of the changes you are making in yourself, especially when you see those measurable results for yourself (maybe buying smaller clothes) or when you get great comments from family and friends who have noticed you are slimmer.

So you can probably already see how it’s possible to affect so many different parts of your life, but you might be asking…  “why hypnosis?”

Why Use Hypnosis for Successful Weight Loss?

Hypnosis, put simply, is considered to be one of the most successful ways to help with weight loss. It’s one of the most natural ways to change those things that you want to change in your life…  it doesn’t use chemicals, strict diets, surgery or pills… it’s a completely natural and relaxing process that harnesses and enhances the power that you already have within yourself.

Hypnosis is a calming, enjoyable and relaxing experience that can help you lose weight naturally, helping you to see weight loss as an opportunity to try new foods and drinks, and experience more out of life.

The good news is that regaining control, and losing weight naturally means enjoying those things that you like once in a while, rather than feeling the restriction of a diet... which is nice!

But it gets even better, because The Successful Weight Loss Hypnosis download is…

Flexible, Affordable, Downloadable!

It’s flexible…  once you’ve bought and downloaded it, it’s yours to listen to as many times as you like, whenever you like.  YOU can choose where and when is the right place and time for you to listen to it… morning, noon or night!   You decide when you feel most relaxed, most receptive to it, and when it is going to fit in easily into your day*.

It’s affordable… it costs a fraction of the fee for a single session of one-to-one hypnotherapy with most hypnotherapists, and as we’ve said, you can listen to it as many times as you like!

It’s downloadable… buy and download this hypnotherapy session right now to use at home.  You could be relaxing and listening to this recording in just a few minutes**.  No previous hypnotherapy experience is required… it’s all in plain English!

Remember, this hypnotherapy session isn’t just another download.  It’s been written and recorded by Paul and Denise Douglass, co-founders of Avon Hypnotherapy, and professional hypnotherapists who have helped thousands of people in one-to-one sessions over the years.

While the downloadable session is essentially the same one as a one-to-one session (without the drive and the 'pre-chat'!), it is now available to you for only £14.99... a fraction of the cost, saving you money that you could be spending on those new clothes!

A message from Paul and Denise Douglass

“We’re very proud to be able to offer this download to you today.  We’ve been delighted about the way this hypnotherapy session has evolved through the years into the session that it is today, and we are really pleased that we can offer it to you at such a low price.
We’d like to welcome you onboard as one of the many people we have helped.  As mentioned earlier, we take our customer service very seriously… we’re always here to answer your questions, or listen to your feedback.

We don’t want this to be just another download… we want it to be a fantastic experience for you.
Welcome aboard!   :O)”

What to Do Next

How Hypnotherapy Can Help Children

If your child is having some difficulties in life that are emotional or psychological in nature, then there are some very effective hypnotherapy techniques that can be used to help children.

Every child is going to experience emotion and upset during their childhood years, but when the problem is around for a while, or gets in the way of their everyday life, then it's at that point that something often needs to be done.

Fortunately, there are some techniques available today that can be very successful at helping children with a wide range of difficulties.

The problems that can be helped include...

  • Anxiety
  • Shyness
  • Self Confidence
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Phobias
  • Thumb Sucking
  • School phobia
  • Blushing
  • Difficulty Making Friends
  • Stuttering
  • Stammering
  • Aggression
  • Fear
  • Insomnia / Sleep Problems
  • Hyperactivity / ADHD
  • Reclusiveness
  • Bed Wetting
  • Nightmares
  • Eating / Food Issues
  • Social Awareness
  • Bullying

How Does It Work?

It works by recognising that children and teenagers are often overwhelmed with feelings and emotions that they simply don't understand, or where they don't have the coping mechanisms in place yet.

Because they don't understand these emotions, and often have no idea where this strength of emotion is coming from, they can do very little about it for themselves.

When a child has difficulties like this, they sometimes feel confused by it too.

Take a child who is bullying, for example... they may only be 'acting out'... bullying has become their only outlet for their emotions... it's easier than trying to make some sense of their feelings.

At the bottom of it all are usually emotions that the child has no way to express. They may not even have the language skills necessary to express them.

Children with emotional problems are often taken to see a counsellor or psychotherapist. While taking an emotional, confused and often frightened child into something like counselling or psychotherapy may sometimes help, it can sometimes just add to their turmoil, because they are being asked to justify their actions, and explain things that they often don't understand.

The hypnotherapy techniques used on children that we are describing here, do not involve the child having to explain themselves... it works by using their imagination to have an outlet for their emotion... allowing them to express themselves, often without having to say a word!

They feel comfortable with a non-judgemental therapist, and can often allow themselves to express feelings of embarrassment, guilt or shame for example, that they can't 'offload' anywhere else.

The children often really enjoy the sessions, and indeed, the mums and dads that get involved often gain a lot from the session too!

How to Find a Therapist to Help Your Child

There are therapists trained in this particular technique all over the UK.

Just give Paul or Denise a call now, on 01354 696155, or contact us.

Tell us a little bit about the problem that your child is experiencing (and that you are looking for help for a child), and we will do all we can to help you find someone in your area.

Smoking Statistics

Tobacco kills 10,000 people EVERY DAY worldwide (3.6 million per year). Tobacco is expected to be the biggest single cause of death in the world in the next 25 to 30 years.

Smoking kills 400,000 people a year in the United States alone, that's almost 1,100 every day. The figures for the UK are around 121,000 people a year, or approximately 330 per day. Approximately 38% die of cancer, 28% die a slow and agonizing death from chronic lung disease and emphysema, and the other 34% die of heart disease and other circulatory problems.

It has been estimated, that just 1/60th of a gramme of nicotine on your tongue can kill a person in minutes.

Tobacco companies are well aware that it is mainly young people who start smoking. It is for this reason that they target their advertising towards young people wherever they can. They know that they have to attract a given number of new smokers every day, to counteract the number of people that die due to smoking.

In the USA alone, 3,000 teenagers started smoking TODAY. Of these, smoking will eventually kill over a thousand of them.

300,000 children under 18 months old develop bronchitis and pneumonia every year in the United States, due to the effects of passive smoking.

Hypnosis has been shown to be one of the most effective ways to stop smoking of all methods of stopping smoking.

Parents smoking directly causes asthma, coughs and wheezes and even middle ear infections in children.

Teenagers are more than twice as likely to smoke if both their parents smoke.

Smoking during pregnancy causes babies to be born with a reduced birth weight. Around 4,000 babies a year, in the United States alone, die directly as a result of their mothers smoking during pregnancy.

A UK smoker who smokes around 30 cigarettes per day, will spend around £2,600 per year on their habit.

Feline lymphoma is a form of cancer affecting cats who live in homes where people smoke.

In affluent countries, smoking is one of the most common causes of blindness.

Following surgical operations, smokers will find that their wounds take longer to heal than non-smokers, due to the collagen fibre levels in the body being depleted. Smokers may also find that their healing wounds may be prone to rupture. This can often prove to be fatal, especially in cases of bowel surgery, for example.

Pneumonia, collapsed lungs, and other such complications of complete anaesthesia, are four times more likely in smokers than in non-smokers.

Thromboses of the heart and brain are the most common causes of sudden death. Smokers are very susceptible to thromboses, on average developing the disease some ten years before non-smokers.

Women who smoke during pregnancy, increase the child's likelihood to die during childbirth, to double that of a non-smoking mother. Should the child survive childbirth, it is also twice as likely to die during it's early years, and twice as likely to die of sudden infant death syndrome ('SIDS' or 'cot death').

New born babies who breastfeed from mothers who smoke, have as much nicotine in their blood as their mothers do.

The risk of brain haemorrhage is highest in women smokers, and is even higher if she also takes the contraceptive pill.

Smoking is one of the major causes of male impotence, increasing the risk of erectile dysfunction by some 50%, and affecting as many as 120,000 males in the UK alone. It has been reported that a male experiencing erectile dysfunction, should take this as a warning that blood vessels are being damaged, and this includes the blood vessels in and around the heart.

The Facts About Smoking

The Cigarette.

The cigarette is often seen as just simply shredded tobacco leaves, all wrapped-up in a piece of paper. However, the cigarette is actually a carefully-designed product, and designed in such a way, so as to make the smoking process as palatable as possible.

The tobacco leaf part of the cigarette, is actually composed of two main leaf types, one which has a higher nicotine content than the other. These two leaf types are combined in varying ratios in order to give each brand its distinctive properties and varying nicotine strength.

Filler.

As well as the two types of leaves, the cigarette manufacturers have a large amount of waste-products, such as stalks and stems. Because it would be financially wasteful to simply dispose of these waste products, they add them to the blend of leaves.

The fillers give an unpleasant taste and smell when they are burned, so they are mixed with a wide range of chemicals and flavourings, to make them more palatable. These include products as diverse as chocolate, fig juice and liquorice. Sugars are then added, to make the smoke more tolerable to the palette, and moisturisers and preservatives are also added, to increase the finished product's shelf-life.

Passive Smoking.

When someone smokes a cigarette, the smoke comes from two main places. Firstly the burning leaves and filler at the tip of the cigarette, and secondly, from the rest of the cigarette, as the hot gasses pass through the rest of the cigarette and the filter.

When smoke is present in a room, something like 70% - 80% of that smoke comes directly from the burning tip of the cigarette. It is this smoke which contains the highest concentration of nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide, and many of the carcinogenic (cancer-causing) agents.

The smoke has many dozens of chemicals that directly cause cancer, and it does this by attacking the DNA of the person breathing it in. Of course, the breathing of this smoke is not limited to the person smoking the cigarette, but will include everyone in the room.

The dangers of passive smoking is the main reason why many companies have now introduced a no smoking policy in the workplace, to protect non-smoking employees.

Low Tar Cigarettes.

Tar has been associated with the increase in smoker's lung cancer, since the 1950's. With increasing awareness of this fact permeating the population, the cigarette companies saw a possible loss in revenue associated with more people wanting to quit smoking.

They addressed this 'problem' by introducing 'low tar' cigarettes. Indeed, on a cigarette-to-cigarette basis, they do offer a slightly reduced amount of tar, and therefore, a slightly reduced risk of lung cancer.

However, the reduction of nicotine that is also present, as well as a perceived reduction in risk, causes an individual to smoke a higher number of cigarettes than before.

So in other words, increased consumption of the low-tar products, more than counteracts any possible 'benefit' of the lower tar brands. Indeed, there is evidence that some kinds of lung cancer are only associated with low-tar cigarettes.

Nicotine.

Nicotine is present as a liquid in tobacco leaves. When the leaves are burned, the nicotine evaporates, and is inhaled with the cigarette smoke, it then passes into the bloodstream, and is in the brain within 20 seconds.

As soon as the smoker finishes the cigarette, the levels of nicotine in the bloodstream immediately start to drop. It continues to drop over time, until the smoker has to feed the craving once again. It is this property that has caused nicotine to be grouped with heroin and cocaine, in the way it creates addiction.

Sobering thought: If you put just 1/60th of a gramme of nicotine on your tongue, you would be dead within ten minutes.

More facts like this can be found on the smoking statistics and smoker's body pages.

Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy - One-to-One Sessions

"I want to stop smoking, how many sessions do I need?"

Article by Paul Douglass, MIAPH

I get e-mails all the time from people who are thinking about using hypnotherapy and hypnosis to stop smoking, who want to know how many sessions it usually takes.

As mentioned elsewhere on this website, whenever we think of helping to change any habit or other behaviour (like stopping smoking), we've got to take into consideration the part that the emotions are playing in it all.

For example, if someone is generally quite a happy, well adjusted, content, and 'stable' person, who genuinely wants to stop smoking, then usually, a single one-to-one session with a well trained hypnotherapist should be enough to help them to stop smoking.

One-to-One Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy Sessions

I personally only ever see someone for one session to stop smoking.

The only time it ever takes more is when someone has something like an underlying anxiety / stress issue, in which case I’d use a different type of therapy ('Pure' Hypnoanalysis), to deal with the anxiety first!

Smoking as a Coping Mechanism for Anxiety and Stress

Sometimes, people will smoke to help them cope with anxiety or stress.

That's not to say that there is anything about smoking that physically relieves stress, but it can often be something as simple as an excuse to get out of work, or away from the kids for 10 minutes that seems to relieve the stress.

For that person, although suggestion hypnotherapy (the sort of hypnotherapy used in the single session approach) can still work, it might be an idea to think about ways to relieve the stress and the anxiety first, and tackling the smoking later.

For someone who is experiencing a lot of stress of anxiety, or any other emotional issue for that matter, it might be worth considering a course of 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis first, to resolve that anxiety or emotion.

Motivation

At the other end of the spectrum, where someone is generally a happy person, who just happens to want to stop smoking, and feels that they generally need a bit of a motivation... something like a stop smoking CD, could be all the help they need. Our own mp3 stop smoking hypnosis download could help.

Unsure of Which is Right For You?

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy for Stopping Smoking

Article by Paul Douglass D.Hyp. Adv. MIAPH. Acc.
Avon Hypnotherapy’s Stop Smoking Specialist.

If you're looking to stop smoking and have thought that stopping smoking with hypnosis might be right for you, then on this page, I will help to explain which type of hypnotherapy might be the best for you to use.

For the vast majority of people who want to stop smoking with hypnosis and hypnotherapy, suggestion hypnotherapy is often the best one to choose, and is by far the most common one used.

Suggestion Hypnotherapy for Stopping Smoking

One of the major advantages to suggestion hypnotherapy to stop smoking, is that it can usually be done in a single session (in a one-to-one session with a hypnotherapist), or even using a download for you to use in the comfort of your own home.

Suggestion hypnotherapy is a nice, relaxing form of hypnotherapy where you get to put your feet up and relax for a while, as you listen to some nice relaxing words fro the hypnotherapist.  Then, while in hypnosis, you listen to a series of positive suggestions that your mind can then use to help you to stop smoking.

As I said, you can either go for one-to-one sessions with a hypnotherapist in your area, or, you can use a downloadable hypnotherapy session.   I’ll start with the downloadable session.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis Download

The one thing people have said to me at the end of the stop smoking sessions in my consulting room, is how much they enjoyed it!  They may have come into the session nervous at first, but by the end of it they feel so relaxed, that they don’t want it to end!

For one of my stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions to be this relaxing, I do five main things:

  • Create a calm, and relaxed atmosphere for the session to take place
  • Explain just how the hypnotherapy is going to work, so that it takes away ‘the unknown’ aspect of it
  • Provide a comfortable place for you to put your feet up and relax
  • Create an ‘immersive’ environment (headphones, low light, soft music)
  • Use completely ‘positive’ suggestions, and have those suggestions provide more than simply stopping smoking

In my own one-to-one stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions that I’ve done for people over the years, it often occurred to me that every one of these things could be done better as a download!.. why?

Because by having the stop smoking hypnotherapy session available as a download…

  • You can relax at home while you listen to the session
  • I can explain the whole hypnotherapy process to you
  • You can choose your own place to relax…  in the lounge, in bed…  it’s up to you!
  • The ‘immersive’ atmosphere that can be created on a download is far more effective than can be achieved in a one-to-one session (the hypnosis part of my download uses over 50 individual tracks mixed into a stereo soundstage for use with headphones, so you’ll be right in the middle of it all!)
  • Using the immersive atmosphere of a download allows us to get far more positive suggestions in, which means the session can do far more for you.

All this is available for immediate download for a fraction of the cost of a one-to-one session with a hypnotherapist.

Click here for more information on “Stop Smoking with Hypnosis, and Know How You Did It!”

One-to-One Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy Sessions

If you are looking to stop smoking, you might prefer to have a one-to-one hypnotherapy session with a hypnotherapist in your area.

You could come along for a one-to-one session with myself in North London, or if you can't get to London, I do have a list of hypnotherapists that can offer stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions, so if you are in the UK, do get in touch via our find-a-therapist service, and I’ll do what I can to put you in touch with someone in your local area.

Click here to find a stop smoking hypnotherapist in your area.

Pure Hypnoanalysis and Smoking

While Pure Hypnoanalysis isn’t a form of hypnotherapy specifically designed for stopping smoking, it does still need to be mentioned here, because for some people, it would be the therapy of choice.

For most people, smoking is simply a habit they would like to break, and for those people, suggestion hypnotherapy for stopping smoking can be very effective.

There are some people though, for whom smoking is more than simply a habit…  You could think of is as more of a ‘symptom’ of something else.

Take for example, someone who feels very stressed in their life, or depressed, or feels badly about themselves somehow, and smoking is in some way a ‘symptom’ of that… it becomes a ‘coping’ mechanism.

Now if that’s the case, then we’re far better off looking to help that person with the actual problem, rather than trying to take away their coping mechanism, and that would be where Pure Hypnoanalysis would come in.

People who fall into this category usually feel that’s they right way to go for them as soon as they read that description.  As a general rule of thumb, I would say that anyone smoking more than around 25 – 30 cigarettes a day should consider Pure Hypnoanalysis.   If you’re in any doubt, please do contact me, and tell me a little bit about yourself.

'Pure' Hypnoanalysis is a very specialised form of hypnotherapy that can only be practiced by specially trained hypnotherapists.

If you're in the London area and would like to use 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis, you can arrange to come along for an initial consultation, and have an informal chat about things.

Alternatively, if you're not in the London area (but are still in the UK), but would still like to talk to a therapist specially trained in this amazing form of hypnotherapy, make sure you check out the Find-a-Therapist service.

Seeing you and the techniques you used really put the whole thing in prospective and from being very dependant smokers (but also two people who really enjoyed smoking) we can never see ourselves being smokers again!!

We have not become the smug type (ex smokers are always the worse for telling people what to do) but we are very proud of ourselves.  So once again Paul, Thank you.
Kind Regards
Rachael”

“I went to Paul for some advice on giving up smoking and controlling my excessive eating habits.

Many months down the line I can safely say I haven't touched or wanted to touch a single cigarette.

In addition to this my life has been completely turned round in view of why and how much I eat.

I am now a positive person who enjoys all aspects of my life. I would recommend Avon hypnotherapy to anyone, if you're lucky like me, you will get more out of it than you could ever hope for. “

“Hi Paul, hope you are well,

Just wanted to let you know it's been a week now since my therapy and I haven't smoked. In fact in a way it feels like I've never smoked.

I haven't had any cravings and I have no problem being around other smokers. The therapy has worked so well for me, I feel great and things in my life seem to be coming together nicely.

I have recommended you to 3 of my close friends.

I will continue to recommend you to people who could benefit from your treatment as I am over the moon with results I have seen in myself. “

“I was going to get back to you earlier but decided to wait until i had been through everything and still not smoked.

It's been 5 weeks and i still have not smoked, i haven't even had a craving!!

I dont know how you've done it and im sure a lot of it is to do with wanting to give up, i have been on holiday, been to family gatherings and all my family smoke, and even had emotional upset and i cannot believe that through all that i have not had the urge to have a cigarette.

I wanted to say thanks “
