Hypnotherapy for Erectile Dysfunction

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction (sometimes also called 'impotence') is the name given to a man's inability to maintain an erection for long enough for sexual intercourse to take place.

It's important to understand that erectile dysfunction can have two main causes, psychological, and physiological.

If the erectile dysfunction is physiological (i.e. has a physical cause), then the man might be offered a range of treatments by his G.P. - In either case erectile dysfunction should always be checked out by a medical doctor first, even if only to rule out physical causes. If you smoke, also talk to your doctor about the effects of smoking on erectile dysfunction, and the benefits of stopping smoking.

If the erectile dysfunction is psychological in nature, then it is usually caused by a deep, underlying anxiety of some kind.

Hypnosis as a treatment for Erectile Dysfunction

Assuming that the erectile dysfunction in a man is caused by a psychological issue, rather than a physiological one, it can be successfully treated using hypnotherapy.

Because the two types of hypnotherapy used are very effective at relieving anxiety, we can greatly help those men whose erectile dysfunction is caused by just such an anxiety.

If you are a man who suffers from erectile dysfunction, and feel that it might be caused by an anxiety like we've described, why not come along for an intial consultation, so that we can meet, and discuss your individual needs.

You can meet with a male or female therapist, whichever you'd prefer, and would feel most comfortable with.

Naturally, your initial consultation, and in-fact any sessions that we have together, are in the strictest confidence.

Hypnotherapy (hypnoanalysis) can help with erectile dysfunction.

Treatment using hypnotherapy for erectile dysfunction (erection problems), can give very rewarding and satisfying results.

If you suffer with erection problems (erectile dysfunction), and especially if it's causing problems in your life, then don't suffer in silence.

Hypnosis as a Treatment for Primary Vaginismus and Secondary Vaginismus

What is Vaginismus?

Vaginismus (also known as Vaginism) is a condition in which an attempt to insert something into a woman's vagina causes the muscles surrounding the vagina to tighten, and to clamp shut, making penetration painful or impossible.

Vaginismus can affect sexual intercourse as well as gynaecological examinations and even the use of tampons.

Vaginismus is involuntary, and can be compared to any other reflex action where the body closes up as a reflex, like when the eye blinks if something approaches it.

In vaginismus, although the closing of the vagina is involuntary, it is often due to a learned response to pain, that is to say, the woman expects pain, or remembers previous painful experiences, or simply imagines that penetration will be painful, and the vaginismus reflex occurs. Vaginismus can be helped very successfully.

Woman with vaginismus can get caught in a 'catch 22' situation. They subconsciously expect, or fear pain, and the muscles tighten up. If penetration is then attempted, it can be painful simply because the muscles are tight. What happens then, is that the pain then subconsciously re-inforces the fear, tells the subconscious that it was right to fear the pain, and it can cause an even stronger response the next time.

Primary Vaginismus

Primary vaginismus is the name given to the condition when the woman has never been able to have sexual intercourse.

Primary vaginismus is often discovered in the teenage years, when the girl tries to use tampons, or goes for an internal examination and finds it to be extremely uncomfortable. This fear of pain then causes an anxiety which will bring with it the conditioned reflex response of closing upwhenever the woman then subsequently attempt intercourse.

Secondary Vaginismus

Secondary vaginismus is the name given to the condition where the woman has been able to achieve penetration in the past, but develops vaginismus after some time.

Treatment for vaginismus is often easier for women with secondary vaginismus than it is for women with primary vaginismus, simply because the woman is aware that penetration without pain is possible.

Hypnosis as a treatment for Vaginismus

Assuming that the vaginismus in a woman is caused by a psychological issue, rather than a physiological one, it can be successfully treated using hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy for Sexual Problems

Sexual dysfunction and hypnotherapy: Hypnosis to treat sexual dysfunction.

Many people have sexual difficulties at some stage in their life, simply because life brings with it pressures, stresses and anxieties that can interfere with this aspect of life.

One of the most common sexual problems for women is vaginismus (vaginism), and for men, erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.

Inhibitions, erection difficulties and many more sexual health issues, can all be the result of stress, anxiety or even hidden shame or guilt. A fear of intimacy, or even commitment phobia, could be a considerable factor, too.

As with all client problems, matters of this nature are always treated with the utmost care, sensitivity and confidentiality, and always with the understanding that many people find it difficult to talk about private matters.

Sexual Problems CAN Be Helped!

There is a type of hypnotherapy that can REALLY help with many forms of sexual problem / sexual dysfunction.

'Pure' Hypnoanalysis has helped countless people over the years. The aim of 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis is not to 'control', or 'manage' the problem, the aim is to resolve it completely.

Premature Ejaculation

Article by Paul Douglass D.Hyp. Adv. MIAPH. Acc.
Avon Hypnotherapy

What is Premature Ejaculation (PE)?

The term Premature Ejaculation (PE) has, over the years, been given many different and varied meanings.

Some will term Premature Ejaculation (PE) as being when the man ejaculates before his partner reaches orgasm (climaxes/comes/cums) most of the time, whereas some definitions will define some sort of time constraint, for example, calling it Premature Ejaculation (PE) if the man reaches orgasm and ejaculates within two minutes of sex starting.

One thing that is common to most, if not all definitions of Premature Ejaculation (PE), is that it is felt that the man has a lack of control over when he ejaculates (comes/cums), and often ejaculates before he wants to.

How Many Men are Affected by Premature Ejaculation (PE)?

Estimates vary, because it depends on their definition of Premature Ejaculation (PE), but estimates show that as many as 40% - 50% of men regularly experience Premature Ejaculation (PE), with most men experiencing Premature Ejaculation (PE) at some time in their lives.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is most common among men who are having sex for the first few times, and most men could experience Premature Ejaculation (PE) during extreme levels of sexual excitement or stimulation.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) can also be quite specific.  A man, for example, may experience Premature Ejaculation (PE) during vaginal sex, but may be perfectly OK during masturbation for example.

What is Premature Ejaculation (PE) Also Known As?

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is sometimes knows as PE, premature climax, premature orgasm, rapid orgasm, rapid ejaculation, premature climax, rapid climax, coming too soon (or cumming too soon), loss of ejaculation control, and uncontrolled male orgasm.

Does Premature Ejaculation (PE) Matter?

The simple answer that it matters if a man (or a couple) feel that their Premature Ejaculation (PE) is having a negative effect on their sex lives.

This is why the ‘time’ definition of Premature Ejaculation (PE) can be problematic.

One man may last for two minutes after entering their partner before orgasm and ejaculation (coming/cuming) and be perfectly satisfied with that, whereas another man might last ten minutes, or twenty minutes, and still feel that he has ejaculated (orgasmed) before he wanted to.

When using the orgasm (ejaculating / coming) before the partner definition of Premature Ejaculation (PE), this in no way takes account of how long the partner lasts before orgasm.  If someone’s partner lasts for over an hour, but they are happy to orgasm (ejaculate) within ten minutes, then that shouldn’t be considered as Premature Ejaculation (PE), simply because in this case, the man is happy with his sexual performance, and is satisfied by the sex.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) and Anxiety

Some men will feel that having Premature Ejaculation (PE) somehow makes them ‘look bad’, or may make them feel ‘less of a man’, and this can of course make them feel anxious about it.

Often, when a man is anxious about Premature Ejaculation (PE), the Premature Ejaculation (PE) can be made worse by the anxiety, or can develop into other problems, such as Erectile Dysfunction (ED), a lack of self esteem or self confidence, or even depression.

What Causes Premature Ejaculation (PE)?

In my experience in treating men with Premature Ejaculation (PE), the most common causes are psychological in nature, and often include:

  • Unresolved psychological conflicts
  • Performance Anxiety - that is to say, worrying about what a partner will think of their sexual performance
  • Fear of being judged
  • Anticipation of Premature Ejaculation (PE) happening
  • Underlying anxiety or stress
  • Worrying about past experiences
  • Having grown up in an environment where sex was seen as ‘dirty’, or where sexuality was often suppressed or used to induce guilt

(Sometimes, Premature Ejaculation (PE) can be caused by a physical cause such as an infection, so it’s always an idea to talk to your doctor).

Can Hypnotherapy Help with Premature Ejaculation (PE)?

Yes, the right kind of hypnotherapy can help greatly with Premature Ejaculation (PE).

I say the right type of hypnotherapy, because something like suggestion therapy, which aims to cause a temporary lessening of symptoms, wouldn’t normally do very much for the Premature Ejaculation (PE) in the long term.

Where the Premature Ejaculation (PE) is caused by anxiety, stress, or an unresolved psychological conflict for example, it’s much better to use a far more effective form of hypnotherapy, known as ‘Pure’ Hypnoanalysis.

‘Pure’ Hypnoanalysis can help you to completely resolve these ‘underlying’ issues, so that rather than having a temporary respite from the Premature Ejaculation (PE), you can resolve the problem once and for all.

Feel a Bit ‘Funny’ about Therapy?

There's really no need to.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is something that I help people with all the time.

My initial consultations are always informal and friendly, and you can come along and have a chat about it all...   my job is to provide you with a nice, relaxing, friendly, confidential, and non-judgemental place that you can come to for help...  so that when you leave, you think to yourself... “phew... that wasn’t so bad after all!”

Today, as you read this, literally hundreds of people all over the country, and with all sorts of problems, are in 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis sessions sorting their problems out!
